Laboratory facilities and testing
“We have excellent laboratory facilities, especially now with the new EMC laboratory. We can perform almost all ventilation unit testing ourselves here in Loimaa.”
– Petri Koivunen, Product Design Manager
Tested quality from Loimaa, Finland
The testing of Vallox ventilation units is an important part of the product development process. Our acoustic, cold and EMC laboratories provide an excellent environment for product development, enabling us to design more and more advanced ventilation units. In addition to testing carried out during product development, each Vallox ventilation unit is also tested at the final testing station of the production line. An individual product will not be put up for sale until it has passed strict electrical safety, tightness and functionality tests.
EMC laboratory
EMC, the electromagnetic compatibility of electrical devices, is regulated by the EMC Directive. In practice, the purpose of the measurements carried out in the EMC laboratory is to ensure that the ventilation unit does not create excessive disturbances that would affect other devices or equipment. The ventilation unit’s level of immunity to external disturbances is also tested. The EMC laboratory greatly improves the speed and efficiency of the design and development process of Vallox products.
Acoustics laboratory
As the name suggests, the acoustics laboratory tests the acoustic properties of ventilation units. We wanted to invest in acoustic product development because carrying out measurements in our own laboratory enables us to quickly find the best component, material and construction combinations. This means that we can reduce both the noise penetrating the unit’s enclosure and the duct noise. Sound pressure levels are tested in accordance with the ISO 5135:1997 and ISO 3741:2010 standards.
Cold laboratory
The cold laboratory consists of a cold room and a constant climate room. The temperature of the cold room can be decreased down to -30°C, and the temperature and humidity of the constant climate room can be adjusted according to the requirements of the test. The cold laboratory is used for improving the ventilation unit’s performance in cold conditions and for measuring the supply air efficiency at different operating points.
Check the performance values of the units easily in MySelecta
The unit-specific performance values measured at Vallox are comparable and provide information on the technical performance and energy-efficiency of the units. In terms of energy-efficient ventilation, the most important figures to compare are annual efficiency and SFP.
Vallox ventilation units operate in accordance with the specified performance values. The performance values can be found, for example, in the Vallox MySelecta selection software, whilst the information on the air handling units can be found in the Vallox MySelecta Pureo selection software.
Prototype Builder Jussi talks about his work at Vallox
Prototype Builder Jussi Mäkilä’s working days consist of measuring and assembling Vallox products that are undergoing product development. Mäkilä is a member of the Vallox product design team. He says that in his job it is important to make lots of mistakes, so that only the successful versions of the products find their way to actual production. The Proto Builder, for their part, ensures that Vallox products work as they are meant to.
